What was Trump’s rallying call at the end of his speech
before the rioting began? Here are his closing remarks as provided by ABC News:
“...most people would stand there at 9 o'clock in the
evening and say I want to thank you very much, and they go off to some other
life, but I said something is wrong here, something is really wrong, can't have
happened and we fight, we fight like hell, and if you don't fight like hell
you're not going to have a country anymore.
Our exciting adventures and boldest endeavors have not
yet begun. My fellow Americans, for our movement, for our children, and for our
beloved country, and I say this despite all that has happened, the best is yet
to come.
So, we are going to--we are going to walk down
Pennsylvania Avenue, I love Pennsylvania Avenue, and we are going to the
Capitol, and we are going to try and give--the Democrats are hopeless, they are
never voting for anything, not even one vote but we are going to try--give our
Republicans, the weak ones because the strong ones don't need any of our help,
we're try--going to try and give them the kind of pride and boldness that they
need to take back our country. So let's walk down Pennsylvania Avenue.
I want to thank you all. God bless you and God bless
America. Thank you all for being here. This is incredible.
Thank you very much.

AFTER THE RIOTS
“...he later seemingly justified the violence, occupation
and besieging of the Capitol with this social media
missive: "These are the things and events that happen when a sacred
landslide election victory is so unceremoniously & viciously stripped away
from great patriots who have been badly & unfairly treated for so long. Go
home with love & in peace. Remember this day forever!" Story
at...
My cmt: The complaints of a stolen election have been refuted
in court over 50-times, often by Republican and Trump appointed Judges. The right-leaning, Trump-supporting (at least
before his false claims of election fraud), Wall Street Journal has
consistently shown these claims to be false and in many cases, patently
ridiculous.
I don’t know if Trump’s actions rise to “High Crime and
Misdemeanors” required for his removal under the Impeachment clause; but
clearly, he has violated his oath to the Constitution and could be removed.
In the end, Impeachment is a Political action, not a
legal one. The Democrats have been out to get him for 4 years; now I suspect
the Republicans will want him impeached too. Some are rightfully outraged;
some may just want to end his political career.
Procedurally, the Senate cannot take up the case before
the inauguration without “unanimous consent” of all 100 Senators – not
likely. Can he be impeached after he
leaves office? The experts are divided.
